"MIURA CB57 CAVITY BACK VIDEO IRONS REVIEW:

FORGED EXCELLENCE" by Matt Delancey

You look at your inbox and do a double take to make sure what you’re seeing is real. Yes the subject of the email clearly has the word Miura in it and then you click with anticipation. It’s one of those moments that for someone like me equates to winning the golf equipment lottery.

-= See All Our Miura Golf Reviews HERE =-

We were lucky to have the services of our friend Christo Garcia from myswingevolution.com to collaborate with on the review. Christo has been on a well documented journey not only to become a better golfer but do it emulating his favorite player Ben Hogan.

Katsuhiro Miura, who began making golf clubs in 1957, hand-grinds clubs in his factory every day alongside Yoshitaka Miura, while Shinei Miura supervises the forging. Miura clubs are made one by one, using many handcrafting processes, and will never be mass produced. Special forging techniques assure that the grain of the steel in each club will be fine and uniform, with no voids or tiny bubbles that could interfere with the famous Miura purity of the strike. This grain, more comparable to a jar of sand than a jar of marbles, is the result of careful and patient forging and finishing, and it sets Miura apart from other clubs.

Miura offers non-forged products as well — drivers, fairway woods and hybrids — all designed and produced under the supervision of the Miura family.

Among professional golfers, the Miura name is well-known — indeed, before he made clubs under his own name, Katsuhiro Miura supplied many top pros with the clubs they used to win major championships. Out of deference to those players and their current endorsement relationships, Katsuhiro Miura does not discuss them specifically. Instead, he focuses on the design and manufacture of his current clubs, which are to him the highest expression of his decades-long quest for golf club perfection.

The first step in purchasing any Miura club is to contact a local fitter. I was very happy to see several options here in the Los Angeles area. After careful consideration I chose to go with Urban Golf in West Los Angeles.

What are we getting fit for? Miura Golf has released a special edition line of clubs called the “Series 1957” and new in the product range is the Limited Edition CB 57 Cavity Back Irons.  Let’s get to the review.

Miura Series 1957 K-Grind Wedge photo was reviewed in ClubUpGolf.com Reviews section.

"Miura K Grind Wedge Review " - By David McCreery

~ from the article ~

Summary

Classic looks, a unique grind, and old-school craftsmanship would make this the envy of anybody's bag. It is expensive as far as wedges go ($275), but you're buying status with that performance, and we think it's worth it.

"Club Review: Miura MB-001 irons"
- By Wayne Freedman

~ from the article ~
"This year, Miura has come out with a new iron, the MB-001, its first new blade design in six years. That's right. Six years. Makes you pay attention, yes?

The company allowed me to try a six-iron, but only after a thorough fitting by Carson Joens at Butler Golf in Half Moon Bay, where they carefully build every club to exact specifications. The MB-001 replaces Miura's venerable Tournament Blades, which the company will be retiring. Even a golf club aficionado must look closely to notice the new iron's subtle changes, but they add up.

The MB-001 has freshened graphics, a slimmer grind in the topline, and a more upright appearance. The sole of the MB-001 has a rounded leading edge, which lends itself more to sweepers of the ball than diggers. This also allows the club to cut through rough more smoothly."

The Miura K-grind wedges, PP-9003 were featured on the PGA.com.

" Miura Golf changes wedge, iron specs"
- By Jonathan Wall, PGATOUR.COM Equipment Insider

Two of Miura Golf's most successful clubs models will now have additional options, after the Japanese club maker announced the addition of two new lofts to the K-Grind wedge, and a new design for the Passing Point 9003 irons.
In an attempt to keep up with growing demand for new lofts in the K-Grind wedge — it was only available in a 56-degree model — Miura added 52- and 60-degree models to the lineup. The wedge with the distinctive fluted sole will now feature a 52-degree K-Grind with 7 degrees of bounce and a 60-degree with 13 degrees of bounce.
"We weren't surprised to find that people wanted more lofts in the K," said Miura's president, Adam Barr . "The club has been so versatile in so many kinds of turf, especially with the face laid open. And it just works so well in the sand. Making more lofts in these was something we were happy to do."
In addition to the new lofts in the K-Grind wedge, Miura also added a version of the Passing Point 9003s, called the Straight-Neck, that now has just 1.3mm of offset less offset in the 6-iron, compared to the original version that had 2.8mm of offset in the 6-iron. The new version is geared towards better players who still want to play a cavity-back iron but might not like seeing too much offset at address.

"Of course, some people need offset to keep from going right, while for others it encourages the ball to go too far left," Barr said. "The Straight-Necks are Miura's recognition that a well-designed, forged cavity back can help a lot of different kinds of golfers -- and everyone should have a chance to get that feel, no matter what their trajectory preferences are."

The suggested retail price for the K-Grind wedge starts at $275 per club; the suggested retail price for Straight-Neck Passing Point 9003 irons starts at $250 per club.

"Review: Miura Special Edition Small Blades"
- By Wayne Freedman

~ from the article ~
"Golf is a counterintuitive game. If we want to hook a ball left, we must swing right. To fade it right, we swing left. To get the ball up, we hit down.

Then there's the adage about how, "Bigger is better and more forgiving."

Forget it.

After trying a set of Miura's so-called 'Baby Blades,' I have opened to the possibility that smaller can be more honest, more intense, and might help anyone's game. Think game improvement through swing improvement. Read on, and you will see how smaller has certainly helped mine."
